RYDE | World’s First Real-time Carpooling App | Ryde Announces New Private-Hire Car Services
RYDE is a community based initiative that uses mobile and geo-location technology to match riders, who request for rides, with drivers going the same way. At the end of the ride, riders donate cash directly to drivers to defray the cost of the trip. RYDE does not take a cut from the donation but charges a booking fee, through a credit card transaction, to facilitate the match.

28 Mar Ryde Announces New Private-Hire Car Services

RydeX offers new alternative for drivers and commuters in Singapore

28 March 2018, Singapore – Ryde Technologies (Ryde), Singapore’s homegrown carpooling and mobility app, has announced that they will be launching RydeX, its new private-hire car service, as part of its growth expansion strategy. The company has already started accepting sign-ups of drivers via the Ryde app.

Ryde, with a combined fleet of over 55,000 drivers (both private cars and taxis), provides a sustainable alternative for the daily commute of over 300,000 passenger members in Singapore. Since last year, riders can book taxi services via the Ryde app through a partnership with ComfortDelGro. Other Ryde services include RydeSchool which connects parents who have children attending the same school, and RydePet, a service that matches users with pet-friendly drivers.

Terence Zou, Founder and CEO of Ryde Technologies Pte Ltd says, “Offering private-hire car services would complete our mobility suite to serve our users better. Over the past two years, we have been growing our base of both users and drivers, and RydeX will provide Singaporeans an effective alternative to book a private hire car.”

RydeX, an on-demand ride-hailing service, would be competitive. By lowering the driver’s commission rate to 10 percent, the savings will be passed back to commuters in the form of lower fares and to drivers in the form of higher earnings.

“We have been receiving positive feedback to launch RydeX as a new private-hire service, and we see a surge of new driver sign-ups these past few days. Through RydeX, we hope to serve all the people in Singapore, by providing commuters a cheaper alternative to get around and drivers a way to make a decent living. Ultimately, our mission is to make a positive social impact in people’s lives,” added Zou.
